Things that can affect your skin

1) It is important to change your pillow cases every night if you suffer from acne. The oil from your hair and face will go on to the pillow case and if slept on for more then one night bacteria will build up and cause your acne to get worse.
2) Sheets and duvets that touch your face need to be changed regularly also.

3) Make sure hair bands are clean.

4) Scarf’s that come in contact with your chin and neck. Make sure they are clean! Oh and make sure your hats are clean also.

5) If you have a fringe it could be the cause of acne on your forehead. The oil from your hair goes onto your forehead.

6) Use clean make-up brushes/sponges wash regularly.

7) After exercising have a shower straight after.

8) When you sleep try and keep your hair off your face. This could be done by wearing a bandana (make sure bandana is clean! Change daily) or if you have long hair putting it in a ponytail or bun or something similar.

9) Keep your hands away from your face. I hate the feeling of wool near my face so I often wear woolly gloves to stop myself from touching my face.

10) Throw away make- up when it is gone off. You could cut up white labels and write what date you bought the product or what date the product will go off and stick it onto the product. You could also put a reminder in your phone for a month or two in advance of the product going off to make sure you use the product up. This is a little ocd but it will stop you from wasting money.

11) If you use pore extraction tools/exfoliating sponges make sure to clean them.

12) Use a clean towel to dry your face every time you wash your face. Don’t use towels other people use. I like to use a face cloth to dry my face. Use a different one every time. It saves on washing big chunky towels every time. Does not taking up so much room in washing machine/dryer or use a lot of water/detergent etc.

13) Use the same cup for drinking out of. This might help in preventing you from getting cold sores from people in your family or people you live with.

That’s all I can think of for now. Remember I am not a doctor or anything like that. These are just some ideas I came up with on my own and some are from reading articles and from talking to people. If you think of any I can add to the list, just leave a comment and I will be happy to add them on. Hope these help a little.

  2. Hi Molly/Mell, I would make sure that the foundation that you are using is non comedogenic, that means it wont clog pores. Make sure you remove all your make up properly. I have begun exfoliating the areas I have blackheads every morning and night with St.Ives scrub and using either a clearasil or garnier face pad after wards to go deep down into the pores. Hope this helps.Maybe spot treat one area where you have blackheads or one side of your nose to see if it is working. Do this for a month and then see if there is a difference. It usually takes around 14 to 20 days to see properly if something you are using is making any difference. If you want to go completely OCD you could even take photos to compare.

Im not a doctor or a beautician this is my own opinion.
